Título del Articulo: Calcium and tin oxides for heterogeneous transesterification of Babasssu oil (Attalea speciosa)

Autores: Jerry L.Solis - Lucio Alejo - Yohannes Kiros

Edició: Abril 2016

Fecha de Publicación: 2016

Abstract:

Non-edible oils and waste cooking oils are alternatives to uphold a sustainable large scale production of biodiesel considering large volumes and by-products. Babassu oil (Attalea speciosa) offers a challenging case study scenario for the preparation of a heterogeneous catalytic material.

Título del Articulo: Biodiesel from rapeseed oil (Brassica napus) by supported Li2O and MgO

Autores: Jerry L. Solis - Albin L. Berkemar - Lucio Alejo - Yohannes Kiros

Edició: Diciembre 2016

Fecha de Publicación: 2016

Abstract:

Vegetable oils are a vast triglyceride source for biodiesel production; i.e. fatty acid methyl esters (FAME), with methanol and a catalyst via transesterification reaction. The aim of this work was to study heterogeneously catalysed biodiesel production with solid oxides such as mayenite (Ca12Al14O33) and alumina (Al2O3) as catalyst carriers using edible rapeseed oil as feedstock.

Título del Articulo: Synthesis and Catalysis of Mixed Oxides on Mesoporous Mayenite for Biodiesel Production from Castor Oil (Ricinus communis)

Autores: Jerry L. Solis - Lucio Alejo - Yohannes Kiros3

Edició: Octubre 2018

Fecha de Publicación: 2018

Abstract:

Environmental concern has been driving the search for substitutes to the fossil based energy sources and has been pushing forward research for bolstering second generation biodiesel production processes. However, various challenges emerge from the use of such feedstocks, eg. in transesterification processes.

Título del Articulo: Ethanol Production from Schinus molle Essential Oil Extraction Residues

Autores: Jerry L. Solis - Robert Davila - Camilo Sandoval - Daniel Guzmán - Héctor Guzmán - Lucio Alejo - Yohannes Kiros

Edició: Junio 2019

Fecha de Publicación: 2019

Abstract:

The present study determines the best conditions for the fermentation of Schinus molle drupes by the combination of different types of hydrolysis with the search for an adequate yeast strain. Schinus molle seed residues from an essential oil extraction plant (EOEP) have a high potential for ethanol production.

Título del Articulo: Biogas based polygeneration plant options utilizing dairy farms waste: A Bolivian case

Autores: J.Villarroel-Schneider - BrijeshMainali - J.Martí-Herrero - Anders Malmquist - Andrew Martina - Lucio Alejo

Edició: Noviembre 2019

Tipo de Material: Artículo científico

Fecha de Publicación: 2019

Abstract:

This study presents a comparative techno-economic feasibility analysis for two polygeneration plant solutions, applied to low-income dairy farms in Bolivia. The first option considers an internally fired microturbine (IFMT) and, the second, an internal combustion engine (ICE). They are integrated with an absorption refrigeration system and a fertilizer dryer

Título del Articulo: Performance Analysis of a Small-Scale Biogas-Based Trigeneration Plant: An Absorption Refrigeration System Integrated to an Externally Fired Microturbine

Autores: J. Villarroel Schneider - Anders Malmquist - Joseph A. Araoz - J. Martí-Herrero - Andrew Martin

Tipo de Material: Artículo científico

Fecha de Publicación: 2019

Abstract:

Trigeneration or combined cooling, heat and power (CCHP) systems fueled by raw biogas can be an interesting alternative for supplying electricity and thermal services in remote rural areas where biogas can be produced without requiring sophisticated equipment. In this sense, this study considers a performance analysis of a novel small-scale CCHP system where a biogas-fired, 5 kWel externally fired microturbine (EFMT),
